Had booked in several high teas during this travel in Hong Kong. And yes I booked in some of them really early like a month early, just don’t want to disappoint myself.
Popinjays
To start off with, they had the best service out of all they we have tried in this post~! Staff at Popinjays held a high standard and make sure you’ve been taken care of all the time. They had the high chair, the kid’s plate and cutlery ready for us, And they got the best view, so much natural lightings if you are into taking photos~!
A selection of canapés appears in-front of us and it is truly exceeding my expectation, as each of the savory items are well-balanced. The scones are definitely the highlight, Popinjays bakes their scones in-house . We even ordered extras after we finished ours.

The Butterfly Room
The afternoon tea menu starts with the savoury canapes stand, follow by the elegant surprise, freshly baked delicacies, pastry trolley and wrapping up with the confectionery trolley. Here’s the first and second courses in the photo. Second course was a vegetarian layered sandwich presented like a slice of cake, with different coloured bread flavours with fillings of tomato, capsicum and avocado. The buttery scones were alright, but the homemade orange marmalade, strawberry jam and clotted cream was surprisingly good.
Since it was Christmas season, on the “pastry trolley” you can see the green Christmas bauble and the napoleon (yummiest pastry on this cart according to me). The final course is all chocolate with the seasonal cake – the Christmas cake!!! The “confectionery trolley” presents mountains of chocolate-inspired desserts, from the boozy chocolate cake to the homemade chocolate bon bons.

Lobby Lounge at Kowloon Shangri-La
Sorry not sorry, this high tea is the cheapest out of all that we have tried, but is my least favourable one base on the food. If you would love a walk-in high tea, I am sure this is the one, don’t get me wrong, the hotel itself got a nice view of Victoria Harbour, nice services and nice couches.
The first tier, “The Introduction”, serves as a great start with alluring and palatable appetisers that will keep guests asking for more. On the second tier is “Hot Signature”, a showcase of savoury delights and talents of the hotel’s native European Executive Chef Alexandre Buytaert and Executive Chinese Chef Mok Kit Keung. The “Modern Classics” on the third tier highlights a taste of authenticity with modern twist on traditional and classic pastries. The last tier, “Sweet Ending”, features delicately rendered desserts fashioned after some treats.
