Drink in the sunshine, explore the Vine and Shine Trail

Alex and I took this trip with the Queensland Wine to Sirromet Winery to promote Queensland wine and Queensland.

The Vine and Shine Trail was created to put Queensland winemakers on the map, encouraging domestic and international visitors alike to
venture in from the coast and discover a wine tourism experience only Queensland can offer. Queensland’s first official wine trail, connecting more than 70 wineries, vineyards, and cellar doors across the Sunshine State.

The Vine and Shine Trail winds its way through the Queensland wine regions, each with its own distinct personality, from the Granite Belt to the Scenic Rim / Gold Coast Hinterland; South Burnett; Wide Bay-Burnett; Brisbane / Greater Brisbane / Sunshine Coast; and Darling Downs / Western Queensland.

RECREATE OUR WINES TASTED ON THE DAY

Banca Ridge – Fiano
Pale yellow in colour with honey, apricot and floral aromas.  Flavours of citrus, tropical fruit and hazelnut.  Medium body, complex round palate with a waxy texture and a dry generous finish.  Perfect for baked chicken with pesto or potato gnocchi with burnt butter and sage.
@sirrometwines – Pinot Grigio
Sirromet Vineyard Selection Pinot Gris has a Light Salmon Blush and also has a lovely textured palate exhibiting nashi pear, star anise, honeysuckle and orange blossom characters. A rich intense style, very fragrant, creamy white fruits and good spinal acidity. Definelty my favourite.
@Clovely Estate– Nebbiolo
Nebbiolo wines are distinguished by their strong tannins, high acidity and distinctive scent – often described as “tar and roses”. A less obvious characteristic, visible only over time, is their tendency to lose color.
@Golden Grove – Tempranillo
A medium bodied style of Tempranillo made for early consumption. Fresh cherry and red berry fruit on the nose set the tone for things to come. The palate is savoury and silky with lashings of sweet fruit, crunchy acidity and mouthwatering tannins from the partial whole bunch fermentation. Minimal oak has been used.
@Ridgemill Estate – Saperavi
A  red wine grape variety that is a native of Georgia in the former Soviet Union. It is the most popular grape variety planted in many of the wine-producing republics. Saperavi is also used to make semi-sweet wines and port-style fortified wines.
